Devon is a spacious and varied county with a sweeping coastline and filled with undulating countryside and pretty villages. The landscape is an incredible space to explore and is made up of Dartmoor National Park as well as three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB’s); Blackdown Hills, East Devon and South Devon. Totnes sits just at the edge of the South Devon AONB which surrounds the banks of the River Dart as it makes its way to the sea. As well as these protected spaces there are numerous parks, nature reserves and miles of cycleways and footpaths which can be discovered.

Dotted along the coast there is a mixture of wonderful beaches, bays and coves all providing great destinations for an exciting day out. As well as family-friendly beaches like Teignmouth, Paignton and Dawlish Warren, there are pretty coves like Wembury and Blackpool Sands. To the east of the county, you’ll find the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, a stretch of coastline which documents the Earth’s history over millions of years and is ideal for fossil hunting.

As well as the countryside, coastline and beaches, South Devon is packed with wonderful towns to visit, two fascinating cities, entertaining events, family friendly, historical and cultural attractions, incredible shopping and world-class food and drink to savour.
